Walk Type: (road)  (countryside / off-road)
Time:2.5 hrs
Distance:8 km

Take the road from Kilworth Square to Ballyporeen, enter Glensheskin Wood and cross the first bridge to the car park. At the end of the carpark follow the meandering track on the right before the second bridge as described in 12.1.

When you exit this track at the foot bridge over the river, turn right and walk up the old forestry road until you arrive at two forks, one after the other. Turn left at the first fork. The second indicates the beginning of the military firing range.

The road meanders through the woods in a north-easterly direction straight through a cross road and eventually emerges on the military road to Mitchelstown.

Turn left and follow the road down past the horse gallop track, with interesting views across Kilworth to Fermoy and the Nagle Mountains. Continue straight ahead and the road eventually enters Kilworth Village.

(Should you wish to have a somewhat shorter walk, park in the parking area at Glensheskin Wood and follow the above track. Emerging onto the military road return towards Kilworth Village past the horse gallops. At the first cross-roads (approximately 2 km), turn left and follow the road past a number of houses, eventually emerging at the entrance to Glensheskin Wood. Turn left and return into the wood to your car.
